Yenifer Chaves has known challenges in her young life that have only reinforced the importance of her Oklahoma State University education. Born in a poor area on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia, and raised near Chicago in a neighborhood plagued by gang violence, Chaves is realizing her dream of building a life and overcoming adversity through hard work and an education.

The producers of the FAIRtax Power Radio podcast recorded their program at Spears Business in May showcasing master’s accounting students who quizzed the program’s hosts about the details of a national grassroots tax reform proposal. Of course, it was an advertisement and their response would be, “I’m going to Disney World!” Oklahoma State University graduating senior Chealsea Fernandez could be asked the same thing, only she is spending time post-graduation in a paid internship at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.
