Future Teacher Surprised with Life-Changing Gift

While most Mondays are easily forgotten, that was not the case for Jordan Webb, graduating elementary education senior in the Oklahoma State University College of Education, Health and Aviation, who was surprised with a life-changing gift on Monday afternoon. Bryan Close, OSU alumnus, announced that he was paying off Webb’s student loan debt through a scholarship award.

In August 2006, the OSU Foundation received $111,000 from the Harold White Estate to benefit the George H. White Memorial Scholarship in A&S.

Oklahoma State University Foundation officials reported Friday a record-breaking $104.7 million received in private gifts for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006 (FY06), which included monumental gifts from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, and Walter and Peggy Helmerich. In addition, the Foundation achieved a 21.7% total return on its pooled investment fund.

Cara Cowan is not your average bride. Cowan agreed to forego gravy boats, coffeemakers and other highly demanded wedding gifts in lieu of increasing her family’s endowed scholarship for Native American students at Oklahoma State University.
