SCIVINCE win first at Riata and advances to TigerLaunch global finals
The innovation and interdisciplinary skills of students at Oklahoma State University continue to set a high standard for technological advancement and entrepreneurship.
OSU student Steve Azzaro arrived at the Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship with a bright idea. His partnerships with the Spears Business Riata Center and CEAT’s Zink Center have helped him grow into a confident entrepreneur with a patent-pending sports training device, the Az-Tec SwingRight.
The Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships to Student Innovation Expo winners. Student entrepreneurs across OSU presented their business ideas and received constructive feedback from judges.
Alejandro Garcia enrolled in OSU’s MBA program as an award-winning marketer. He graduated from Spears Business with a new passion for nonprofit management. Today, Garcia blends his education and business experience to serve as Executive Director of the Tulsa Global District, leading community revitalization through entrepreneurship and art reflecting multicultural traditions.
The Cowboy100 highlights the growth and success of Cowboy-owned or operated businesses worldwide. Hundreds of companies have entered to participate in the competitive event, but a select few have made it all four years.
OSU student Brooklyn Hawkins was only 17 when she founded In the Middle of a Miracle, which raises pediatric cancer awareness with a focus on teenagers. The mission is deeply personal for Hawkins, and Spears Business has helped her gain confidence in sharing her story.
Professor Nathan Richardson has been named school head and centennial professor of the School of Architecture for the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology pending Board of Regents approval effective July 1, 2025.
HTM graduate Kate Smith puts a sweet spin on a family tradition. After growing up in her parents’ Stillwater restaurant, Smith established her own bakery, Kate Smith Soirée. She was honored in the 2025 Cowboy100 celebrating the top businesses owned or led by OSU alumni.
