The Fall Honors College Award Presentation took place on Friday, September 30 in the Student Union Little Theatre. The ceremony recognized students who received an honors award or experiential learning (xL) essay award during the Spring 2021-22 academic year. This was for students who received the General Honors award, Departmental or College Honors award, or best essay for xL learning.

Daysia Blackwell was like a lot of 15-year-olds in Duncan, Oklahoma – in need of a job to pay for after-school activities. The local Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy store hired her on, but looking back, Blackwell ended up getting a whole lot more than just a paycheck. It turned her onto a path that would lead her to the OSU Spears School of Business and a future career in hospitality management.

That is, until her favorite Spears School of Business instructor, Dr. Maribeth Kuzmeski, came up with an idea that ignited something within Rashwan and the world of sports.

Rachel Cameron, a young actress and entrepreneurship student, made her way to Stillwater after filming a movie in Yukon, Oklahoma. The Dallas native spent a month and a half in Oklahoma on the set of “Treasure Lies,” a faith-based movie about a hardworking teenage boy who wins the lottery and faces a crisis of character where Cameron plays the love interest. It was her time spent shooting when she fell in love with the state of Oklahoma and decided to attend OSU.
