State meteorologist calls Oklahoma Mesonet ‘a forecaster’s dream’

A system of 120 stations with at least one in every county, the network was designed and implemented by cooperating scientists at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma, with the two universities continuing to provide valuable subject-matter expertise to this day.

For the past two years the 21-year-old junior has monitored seven small watersheds — including lands that have eastern redcedar, prairie and switchgrass — at OSU’s 1,820-acre Cross Timbers Experimental Range southwest of Stillwater as part of a long-running research study.
